About the Judge: Heidi, who hails from Ontario, Canada, began her love of horses after meeting her figure skating friends’ pony. Heidi had been figure skating training with Olympic aspirations in mind since she was 4 years old, as her father was a Professional hockey player. The meeting of the pony erased all of those visions! At 14 years of age she began he pursuit of an Equestrian career.
Riding as a Junior in Canada she moved up from her first pony to her first Junior Hunter, and then her first Junior Jumper under the watchful eye of Olympic team member Danny Foster. She attended a 2 year college program geared towards farm and horse care/management with emphasis on veterinary medicine and a Canadian Equestrian Federation certified coaching program, and graduating with honors.
Along the way she rode with and for many great riders and trainers until she took on her own business at the age of 28 after qualifying for the Indoor Circuit with her jumpers. Having travelled with her 4 Grand Prix horses and living in many great states she settled in Minnesota with a 60 stall facility and up to 40 horse showing clients with a full horse show schedule. Those included everything from small ponies, Jr and Adult riders and some International Derby Hunters and many jumpers from puddle jumpers to the Grand Prix horses.
After relocating to the South she has continued training and teaching clinics, along with a busy schedule of officiating for the United States Equestrian Federation as a large “R” in Hunters, Equitation, Jumpers and Hunter Breeding judge.
